Couple Songs from the Forthcoming Album

Folks, here are couple new songs from the forthcoming album “The Elements of Love”. We will remove these once the album is out.

GALLERIES OF THE ROADS OF LOVE, PT.2 / ROAD NOT TAKEN

This is a typical progressive rock song. What makes it typical? The song is 10 minutes old, it really consists of two songs, as the title indicates. It has multiple themes, development and variations, no attempts at hooks, goes for epic feel, and so on. The “Road Not Taken” part of the song uses lyrics from the famous poem by Robert Frost. Jeff McGahren wrote the music for the “Road Not Taken”, except the bridge and the alternative verse, which are written by Misha. Misha also wrote the “Galleries of the Roads of Love, Pt. 2”, words and music.. Here is the link to the song.

END OF THE ROAD

This is the saddest song from the album. Everything ends, love, hate, even the life itself. Words are written by Susan Hawkins, music by Misha. Here is the link to the song.

Let us know what you think!

Piano concerto

Found sheet music of a rather amateurish piano concerto I wrote back in 2006 along with Sibelius Music mp3 export. In essence, the mp3 represents Sibelius Notation package playing it (apologies for the synthetic sound). Just for giggles, here it is:
– Part 1 – Moderato. Here is the Orchestral Part, Piano part and Sibelius Music package playing it (mp3).
– Part 2 – Adagio. Here is the Orchestral part, Piano part and Sibelius Music package playing it (mp3).
– Part 3 – Presto. Here is the Orchestral part, Piano part and Sibelius Music package playing it (mp3).

Enjoy (or not)! Yours truly,

Michael (Misha) Shengaout

“Primary Elements” nominated for Best Debut Record

Italian site Progawards (http://www.progawards.it) nominated our album Primary Elements as the Best Debut Record. Here is the link to the nominations: http://www.progawards.it/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=131&Itemid=577. I strongly recommend to check out their nominations – the list has some of the greatest progressive rock music you’ve never heard!

Magazine issue about Stanley Whitaker

“All Things If” has published a special issue about Stanley Whitaker called “Stanley Whitaker: Through Triumph and Disaster”. The issue contains bunch of interviews with the former band members and friends, including Ken Scott (producer for David Bowie and Supertramp, sound engineer for Beatles’ White Album, and so on), Paul Reed Smith (owner of the PRS Guitars company) David Rosenthal (played with Billy Joel, Rainbow, Bruce Springsteen and so on), Ron Riddle (drummer for BLue Oyster Cult) and so on.

If you will look carefully, man’s sihouette in Verses 3 and 4 is yours truly!
